I started swimming competitively in 1960 at the age of 6 with my favorite coach Dick Smith at Carlouel Club in Clearwater
Florida. I continued swimming through college at Colorado State University and with Carlouel Club until I retired as a
competitive swimmer at the age of 23 in August 1977.
In 2002 at the age of 48, I was diagnosed with MS and began running.
Athletic Achievements:
- High School All American swimmer in 50 yd Freestyle in 1970, 50yd freestyle, 100yd freestyle, 100 yard
breaststroke and 200 medley relay in 1972.
- High school national record holder in the 200 medley relay in 1972.
- Florida Junior Olympic champion 50 and 100 freestyle in 1970, 50, 100 and 200 freestyle in 1971.
- American Discovery Trails Marathon - 45 to 49 age group champion 2002
- American Discovery Trails Marathon - 45 to 49 age group champion 2003 Boston Marathon qualifier
- Arizona Rock and Roll Marathon - 50 to 54 age group 4th place PR of 3:08:27 2007 Boston Marathon qualifier
